Greetings to everybody. Welcome to the St Joseph’s School, New Plymouth Website.
St Joseph’s is a Contributing State Integrated (Catholic) Primary School catering for
children from new entrants to year six. We are a very well resourced school that
provides a broad and rich curriculum built around Christian living, creativity and
knowledge and skills essential for the future. These skills are embedded in the school
Eight Competencies (8 C’s) and through our Gospel Values of Tika, Pono & Aroha. An
emphasis is given to achievement in the core learning areas of literacy and numeracy
as well as developing and fostering an appreciation of the arts, digital and scientific

Mandatory mask wearing for all adults
Enter and exit through the same gate
Play on your court. Do not cross over into other zones.
If you or members of your household are unwell or awaiting a test/test results, you must not attend games and stay home.
Appropriate hygiene and sanitation processes in place for participants and equipment
Mandatory contact tracing is required, Ministry of Health QR codes are at each venue.
Physical distancing is required at all times (with the exception of players on court and sideline coaching at breaks)
BYO water bottles, towels and hand sanitiser for frequent use
Sneeze and cough into your elbow
Cleaning and hygiene protocols will be implemented for bathrooms and toilets
Change rooms will be closed
No mingling between groups and supporters. Get in, play, go home.

We are back to wearing summer uniform this term. The hall has a large selection of sandals available for those who want to swap or just grab a pair. Lots of variety and they are in good to mint condition. The Hall side door nearest the school will be open. The uniform room will also be available in the main office area. One family at a time, adults to wear masks, use sanitiser and sign in using the QR Codes. 9am-12 Thursday and Friday this week.

All year 5 and 6 development hockey teams have been moved up to the half field grade and are in pool B of this grade. This is due to a lack of team entries in the development grade. It will be a great experience and there will be teams of similar levels. This means we are now looking for more players as there are more players on the turf at one time. Touch Rugby Term 4 -Important InformationMon Sep 27 11:12am
City Touch Taranaki are waiting until the Government announcement on Monday 4th October to confirm if Term 4 Touch is able to go ahead. Touch can not go ahead if we are still at Level 2. A draw for Week 1 will be available as soon as possible if Level 1 is announced.
Team shirts will be given out this week ready for Week 1. Team balls will be given out for the coaches on the first Monday back in Term 4
Devon Intermediate Grounds
During the recent classroom addition the playing fields have been compromised. Should the fields not be safe to play on by Week 1 City Touch have secured a backup venue in Hickford Park Bell Block. A call will be made on Monday 4th October along with the Covid update. If some teams do need to move to Hickford Park then the draw will be sent out with times to allow for everyone to get across town.

Basketball (Yr 5-6) are having finals on Thursday 23rd September (with restrictions). Teams will be notified if they have made the finals asap.

OSCAR will be up and running at the start of Level 2 (operating from Thursday 9th September). The OSCAR Programme will be using the same protocols as the school.
* Parents do not enter the OSCAR building please.
* A staff member will sign your child out on the iPad.
*Please keep distancing in place from staff, other parents and other children.
* Please use AimyPlus to make bookings for this term. Any cancellations/non-attendance for existing bookings should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.

The Government has announced that we will be moving to Covid 19- Level 3 from 11.59pm Tuesday 31st August. This means that from Wednesday 1st September, our physical school could be available for children who ‘need to be at school’. The Government expectation is that where possible, children who are able to continue their learning from home, should do so – this could also be through extending your bubble to another family/home.
A survey and more detailed information will be sent out over the app and parent emails later tonight or tomorrow morning when I have a full picture from the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health.

There is a break-up for all Yr 3-4 and Yr 5-6 netball players, coaches, parents/caregivers on Thursday 12th August from 3-4pm which will be held in the school hall. This is a very informal gathering to celebrate the successful netball season we have had this year. Coaches and players can take this opportunity to formally thank one another for their respective efforts throughout the season.
Please, all players to provide a small plate of food (One per family only). Please bring this to the hall kitchen on Thursday morning.
The players can get changed into mufti after school if they wish.
Any students who usually attend Oscar will be walked to the Oscar classroom at 4pm, at the end of the event.
Uniforms should be returned at this time as well.

Last night a group of keen parents met to plan a fundraising / family event for Term 4. After discussion we have decided to have a family fun picnic for our school community on the afternoon of Sunday Nov 14. Some food will be available, families can also bring picnic food if they wish, we will have some activities available and the famous inflatable obstacle course and water slide. This event will replace the School Picnic and Fun Fair that have been run previously. We will have some of our famous raffles for families to sell later this term and these will be drawn at the school family Fun Picnic on Nov 14. More details and information to come.
