STRUCTURED LITERACY PARENT EVENING

We are holding a parent information evening this Wednesday, 18th May, at 7.00pm in the Scout Hall for those parents/caregivers who would like to know more about the science of learning to read and how you can support your children at home.

TERM 2 AT ST JOSEPH’S SCHOOL: COVID-19 LEVEL ORANGE
Fri Apr 29 11:08amAs you will be aware, we have now moved to Covid-19 level Orange. This means at school we are asking the community to observe the following:
* Adults if entering the buildings, please wear a mask.
* Adults if entering the buildings, please sign in at the office.
* Adults please do not congregate and try to maintain 1-2 metre distancing.
* Students Year 4-6 are encouraged to wear a mask when inside.
* Students are not to be on-site until 8:15am.
* Afternoon pick-ups from 2.45pm please.
Students Years 4-6 will be asked to wear a mask when we meet as a school in the hall for assembly, because of the close proximity to one another during this time.
If there is a high number of Covid cases happening at school, we may ask that masks be worn in the classrooms by all students again, for a time.
We will continue to keep all other health measures in place at school.. maintaining good hand hygiene, cough and sneeze etiquette, physical distancing where practical and if students are sick.. please stay home.
Assemblies/School Prayer/Certificates for Term 2 will be held as a whole school together, on Friday mornings at 9.00am in the Scout Hall. Parents/caregivers are welcome but we ask that masks are worn.
YEAR 6 NATIONAL YOUNG LEADERS DAY

There is a new platform called PlayHQ that Taranaki Hockey is going to be using. It will be great and has many uses, however we need you to register your child. We will deal with the costs at school but please follow the link and register so I can assign the teams within PlayHQ when you do this. If you could do it by the end of the holidays that would be great… it doesn’t take too long!

Basketball/Miniball Online Registrations -for all players and coaches
Tue Apr 12 01:25pmMember Registrations.
Basketball New Zealand requires everyone involved in basketball in 2022 to be registered to an association or a club. A database with details of members will enable the sport to approach key funding agencies and tell them about who we are and how many are involved in the game. This should help ease the way forward for future funding in the sport.
NPBA therefore asks everyone involved in the game – player, coach, manager, referee, volunteer – to please complete the BBNZ registration form in the following link. All players will be required to complete the form to be eligible to play in the NPBA Junior Leagues so we ask that you complete this form as soon as possible.

Moulton Street will be reduced to one way traffic although parking will still be available on Moulton Street.

Wed Mar 23 12:08pmThis coming Friday and Saturday marks the end of our Term 1 cricket season. We are grateful to all coaches, managers and scorers for their hard work in making cricket happen for our keen, young cricketers. Please pass on your thanks as well.
After your final game please may we have a parent collect up the shirts, wash them, and return them to school next week. Coaches please check gear and return it to the office next week as well.

Reconciliation and First Communion Programme 2022
Thu Mar 17 09:41amThe Catholic Parish of New Plymouth is now taking registrations for these Sacramental programmes. While firm dates have been set due to the disruption that Covid is causing in our school communities, we are hoping to deliver the Reconciliation programme in Term 2.
If you have children who are seven years or older (Year 3 upwards) who you wish to register for these programmes can you please fill in the online form that is attached in the link below. Please have these registrations in by 14th April – which is the last day of Term 1. We also require a copy of your child’s Baptism certificate. This can be scanned and emailed to youngfamilyminister@catholicparishnp.nz or dropped into the Parish Office.

Year 5 & 6 Camp – No Visitors Allowed
Wed Mar 09 10:52amOur Year 5 & 6 students, staff and parent helpers have headed off to camp this morning. Vertical Horizon Camp have advised that only parents/caregivers who have already volunteered their help and are rostered on to assist over the next three days are able to be on site.
No parents/caregivers/extended family are able to be on site as visitors. This is Vertical Horizon’s track and trace management system that they request we follow as part of their Covid Level Red protocols.
