If your child is joining the group who will be walking down to the Tryathlon as a group on Thursday morning, please ensure they are at school well before 8:45am This is when we will be leaving school. We will be meeting the children next to the bike stands. Hayley O’Neill and Mike Healion will be the adults with them.
Please also make sure they have all of the correct gear and numbering on their bikes/helmets etc and that they are prepared for the event.
They will need to have warm clothes for before/after their event. Covered shoes for the biking and running. Lunch box and drink bottle too.
We will be walking back to school once all of the events are finished.

This week is the final week of cricket. A huge thank you to the parents who have coached and managed teams, as well those who continue to offer their support at each game. Please ensure children pass on their thanks too.
Next week we require the return of all cricket shirts as soon as possible so that they can be issued to winter sports teams. Please return these to the office.

In past years St Joseph’s School have taken children down to the Weetbix Tryathlon as a group and returned back to school together.

Next Friday, 17th March, we will be celebrating St Joseph’s Day. Although it falls on Sunday 19th March, we do not want to miss the opportunity to celebrate our fabulous Patron Saint.
All children will be travelling by bus to St Joseph’s Church for our liturgy. Please ensure your child is at school on time, as we will be departing at 9:00am. We will also be holding the Year 6 Leadership Badge blessing at this event. Te Hononga will lead our liturgy.
All parents and families are warmly invited to join us at St Joseph’s Church for this very special celebration.

We are joining schools across New Plymouth in a Mufti Day to support our colleagues and students in the Hawkes Bay and Tairawhiti. The New Plymouth Principals Association will distribute the funds directly to schools.
Wear black & white on Wednesday 1st March and bring a gold coin (or more!) donation in exchange for not wearing uniform.

Please note the change of time from a 1pm start to a 1:30pm start.
The Yr 3-6 width board demonstration swims have been taken out. This now means not all children are taking part in the swimming sports. If you are planning to come along and support, please check with your child that they are in an event.
Children who are not swimming will be supporting the swimmers as they compete.

REMINDER: Junior School Pukekura Park & Brooklands Zoo VisitWed Feb 22 09:42am
Our junior school children will be leaving tomorrow at 9.15am to head to Brooklands Zoo and Pukekura Park for our trip. We will be returning to school at approximately 2.15pm.
Please ensure children have sunblock on, a large water bottle, as well as their packed morning tea and lunch. They need to wear their school polo shirt, school hat, their own shorts or leggings, a light rain jacket or jersey, as well as suitable walking shoes.
Please keep an eye out on the school app the morning of the 23rd in case of any cancellations.

Tomorrow is a mufti day. All children are asked to please bring a gold coin donation to school in exchange for not wearing school uniform. Donations will go to those in need in Turkey/Syria and also to those affected in Auckland by the recent flooding.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, the decision has been made to close St Joseph’s School tomorrow, 14th February, due to the worsening weather created by the onset of Cyclone Gabriel.
Due to the MetService red alert strong wind warning and orange alert heavy rain warning currentiy in place for Taranaki, it is considered safer for our students to stay at home for the duration of the cyclone activity.
We are being updated by the Ministry of Education regularly and will update our families as we receive more information.
Could all families using the OSCAR service this afternoon, please pick up their children as soon as possible.
