We are having a working bee at 5.30pm Wednesday, 25th February to move some bark on the junior playground. Please bring rakes and a wheelbarrow or use our gear. 30 mins only if we can ten people along. Email Fiona if you can come: fiona@stjosephsnp.school.nz.  Many thanks.

CHANGES TO SCHOOL PARKING & AFTER SCHOOL PICK-UP

Fri Feb 19 02:33pm

The NPDC will begin roadworks on Monday 22nd February to create additional public parking on Moutlton Street beside the Bowling Club.  It is anticipated that this project will take approximately four weeks (weather permitting).

During this time, access to Moulton Street will be closed and we ask that parents do not park on the bowling club grass area.

It is suggested that parents park on St Aubyn Street, Devon Street or at Lynmouth Park and walk to meet their children.  The school operates two supervised ‘walking school buses’ after school – one to the Devon Street crossing near Lorna Street and the other to the St Aubyn Street crossing at the end of Calvert Road.

Please talk about your new after school pick-up plan with your children so that they are ready for the changes on Monday.

FIRST RECONCILIATION/FIRST COMMUNION

Fri Feb 19 11:17am

This year a Parish wide First Reconciliation preparation is planned for Term 1. The programme begins with preparation for parents at the end of February, followed by children’s preparation during class time.  Enrolment forms are available on the Parish App and website, Parish and School offices or contact Michelle Butler by emailing youngfamilyminister@catholicparishnp.nz

This year, the Parish is trialling a different format, with children’s preparation sessions being delivered during school time at their respective primary school.

Prior to the programme commencing, parents are required to attend a preparation meeting.  There are two available dates for your convenience:  Sunday 28th February 3-5pm  at St Joseph’s church hall OR Thursday 4th March 7-9pm at OLHC foyer/church.

Also, there will be a special blessing for children participating in the programme at Sunday morning Masses during March through until the reconciliation liturgy’s.  We strongly encourage attendance at as many masses as possible during this time of preparation, this helps support the learning but is also essential to our Catholic identity/belonging to our faith community.

First Reconciliation will be celebrated at an evening liturgy on Thursday 25th March at St Joseph’s Church and Friday 26th March at OLHC Church; times to be confirmed.

Please note – the new format will be reviewed prior to confirming First Communion preparation which we anticipate will run in Term 2.

We would like to be prepared for any possible change to a home learning situation if we were to move to Level 3 or 4 ‘Learning from Home’.  We have some devices at school that we would be able to loan to families.  So we are organised, we would like to hear from families who will require devices.  If your children already have access to devices at home, please use those as we only have a limited supply to send to homes.
If you will require a device(s) please click the link below and fill in the quick survey.
Thanks Mike and Fiona
