The middle and senior school have swimming sports at the neighbouring Devon Intermediate pool at the conclusion of the swimming season. Supervised swimming is also available at lunchtimes until the end of March. The community can rent keys for out of school use of the pool. We are also famous for our massive water slide which we set up on special occasions

Interschool Sport

St Joseph’s participates in the annual interschool sport competitions. We participate in netball, rugby and soccer. Hosting these events and visiting other schools as part of this competition is a highlight for our students.

Cultural

Production

Every second year St Joseph’s produces a production showcasing the performing arts. We are very lucky to have a team of teachers and parents who are committed to putting on a show of the highest quality.

Kapa Haka

Our Kapa Haka Ropu is tutored by Whaea Unity Wara and supported by Miss Kate Landrigan.  They perform at both the Puanga and Tatarakihi Festivals and support the school at key times and events during the year.

Dance Extravaganza

On alternate years with the production the school presents an evening of dance. Each class creates dances to be shared with the community. This is a wonderful evening of vibrant colour and groovy moves!

Art Auction

Every second year, the school runs an art auction which is used as a fundraising initiative. The children also produce amazing artworks leading up to the art auction. Local artists are invited to come and work alongside the students as they create their masterpieces.

Visiting Performers

St Joseph’s is proactive in providing a variety of opportunities for our students to view and participate in. We have at least one performer per term and regularly involve children in arts related workshops. Each class also makes regular visits to the Art Gallery and Puke Ariki during the year.

Choir

Juliette Parker is our choir tutor.  The group sings together every week and performs regularly.
